“God is not a belief to which you give your assent. God becomes a reality whom you know intimately, meet everyday, one whose strength becomes your strength, whose love, your love. Live this life of the presence of God long enough and when someone asks you, “Do you believe there is a God?” you may find yourself answering, “No, I do not believe there is a God. I know there is a God.”~Ernest Boyer, Jr.

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart with all your soul and with all your might.~Deuteronomy 6:5

Beautiful Buns

If you did a search for "beautiful buns" there is no telling what you might come up with:) but hopefully you would be directed to this blog. Last week I made some great hamburger buns, partially fuled out of the desire to eat better and the need to save money I decided to make my own buns.

I know you are thinking why make buns? Well for one they taste soooo much better than the mushy, pastey bread you can buy and they cost much less-OK there is the time factor but the reward is so worth it.

So if you want to make your own buns I've included the recipe

1C Water, lukewarm
2TB Butter at room temp
1 egg
3 1/4 C White Flour
1 Tsp Salt
1 TB Yeast or 1pk

1) Sprinkle the yeast inot the water and leave for 5 min. Stir to dissolve

2) Combine all the ingredients and mix well

3)Knead by hand or in kitchen aid for about 10 min until the dough is soft and smooth

4)Place the dough in a clean lightly greased bowl.

5)Cover with a towl and let rise 1hour until doubled in size

6) Divide the dough into 8 pieces and shape each piece into a flattened ball

7)Place the buns on a greased or non-stick baking sheet, cover with a towel and let rise 30-40 min until quite puffy and doubled in size

8)Preheat oven to 375 degrees

9)Bake the buns for 12-15 minutes, until golden

10) Remove from the oven and cool them on a wire rack

This recipe also makes GREAT dinner rolls just change the shape or make smaller balls!

I know this might seem like a lot of work but oh the JOY baking brings ENJOY!
